If you have words, you have wealth.
Ann-Chadwell Humphries, author of, “An Eclipse and a Butcher” was selected by Muddy Ford Press for their 2020 Laureate series. Humphries has studied with Nikky Finney, Kwame Dawes, and Ed Madden. She has been profiled in Prairie Schooner and published in Museum of Americana, Kaleidoscope, Poetry Society of South Carolina, Emrys, Jasper, and Fall Lines. As a poetry fellowship finalist, she was a featured poet at Pat Conroy Literary Festival. Due to adult onset blindness, Humphries reads and writes using assistive technology. She considers blindness a gift.

Ann Humphries reminds us that whatever we thought we knew, something about the experience could surprise us…Humphries offers little stories in which family, geography, catastrophe, nation are gravities that may push us together or pull us apart…This is a book of resilience and beauty—and love, there is so much love in this book.
Ed Madden, former Poet Laureate, Columbia, South Carolina
